The Skinny

 

The Griffin Bears will travel to Hampton to take on the Dutchtown Bulldogs. The Bulldogs have been dominant on defense this season. They are allowing only 5.7 points per game, while their offense is averaging 33.2 points per game. The Bulldogs have recorded 5 shutouts on the season as well. The Griffin Bears come into this weeks game averaging 26.4 points per game. The Bears did much of their damage through the air last week as they passed for 168 yards and 3-TDs through the air. We don’t think the Bears have seen a defense like Dutchtown’s this year. We like the Bulldogs will advance to their first quarterfinal since 2009. Dutchtown by 20 this week.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Skinny

 

The Cedar Shoals Jaguars will be on the road to take on the Rome Wolves. The Jaguars shut out the Lithonia Bulldogs last week, but we don’t believe that they can keep the Wolves off of the scoreboard. Last week the Jaguars Kiyonnice Smith passed for 212 yards and 4-TDs to lead the scoring barrage. This week, they’ll be facing a Rome defense that is giving up 16.1 points per game. Rome is averaging 59.3 points per game on offense. Even if the Rome defense doesn’t hold up their end of the bargain this week, we just don’t believe that Cedar Shoals can outscore Rome. We like the Wolves by three touchdowns.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Skinny

 

The Ware County Gators got a big game from quarterback Thomas Castellanos last week. He rushed for 149 yards and 3-TDs. This season, Castellanos leads the Gators rushing attack with 764 yards and 14-TDs. Dream Gainer picked up another 62 yards on the ground for the Gators last week. As a team, Ware County is averaging 31.5 points per game. Their opponent, the Warner Robins Demons are only giving up 19.6 points per game. They are led by quarterback Dylan Fromm. During the regular season, Fromm passed for over 3,000 yards and 34-TDs. The Ware County defense, led by Logan Braucht and Ken Standley, will need to get pressure on Fromm to disrupt the passing game. That sounds great in theory, but we aren’t sure how well that will work in Friday night. We know that Coach Stephens will have his youthful Gators ready to play on Friday, but we still like Warner Robins by 17 this week.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Skinny

 

The East Paulding Raiders are looking to get back into the quarterfinals for the first time since 2011. The Raiders are averaging 28.8 points per game this season. Their defense is allowing 26.9 points a game. Their opponent, Clarke Central is averaging 25.7 points per game. The Gladiators O’brien Barnett had a big game last week against Arabia Mountain as he rushed for 206 yards and 4-TDs. During the regular season, the Gladiators defeated three playoff teams. The Gladiators are looking to get past the 2nd round for the first time since 2009. The Skinny

 

Last week MJ Fuller and the Wayne County Yellow Jackets survived a scare from a very talented Jonesboro Cardinals team. Fuller rushed for 120 yards and 1-TD. The Jackets were held far below their 34.9 points per game. The Bainbridge Bearcats will come calling this week and we believe that Wayne County will need another big performance from their defense to get past Bainbridge. The Bearcats proved they could score, putting up 40 points on Jones County in a first round win. Caleb McDowell was big on both sides of the ball; he had two touchdowns and a fumble recovery on defense. We think that Wayne will shake off the rust and edge out Bainbridge in the teams first meeting since World War II. Jackets by a field goal.

 

 

 

 

The Skinny

 

The Kell Longhorns will visit the Buford Wolves this Friday. Buford’s two losses on the season came at the hands of nationally ranked Deerfield Beach and Class 7-A Archer. The Wolves have won 6 games in a row. They have shutout three opponents on the season and are averaging 47.8 points per game. Derrian Brown led the way last week with 102 yards rushing and two touchdowns. They will be up against a Kell defense that is only surrendering 17.1 points per game. Kell’s offense has been pretty good as well this season as the Longhorns are averaging 41.6 points per game. Ebony Jackson had a big week last week as we rushed for 243 yards and 4-TDs. We aren’t sure that Jackson will have as much success against the Wolves, but he has certainly put the Wolves on notice. Kell has won seven straight games, but we think the buck stops here. We like the Wolves by a touchdown.

 

 

 

 

The Skinny

 

The New Hampstead Phoenix got the first playoff win in school history as they upset No. 1 seed Starr’s Mill. The Phoenix didn’t overwhelm with any big statistical performances. Quarterback Deyandre Ruffin passed for 110 yards and 1-TD and rushed for 78 yards, while Dontre Wallace rushed for 72 yards and 1-TD. The Phoenix also got big plays on defense that help seal the deal. On the season, New Hampstead is averaging 26 points per game, while their defense is surrendering 21.8 points per game. The Stockbridge Tigers will present another tough challenge for the Phoenix. The Tigers are averaging 34.8 points per game while the defense is giving up 12.3 per game. Last week, Jevon McDonald passed for 112 yards, but it was the rushing of McDonald and Bonner that helped the Tigers get past a stubborn Veterans team. We think that Stockbridge will stay on track this week. We like the Tigers by two touchdowns.

The Loganville Red Devils scored a big upset of the Southwest DeKalb Panthers. Their reward is a trip to Carrollton to take on the Carrollton Trojans.  The Red Devils got some key special teams play to help get the victory last week. They will probably need some more of the same. On the year, the Red Devils are only averaging 20 points per game on offense, while their defense is surrendering 30.5 points pre game. Loganville will have to slow down a high-powered Carrollton offense that is scoring 43.9 points per game. Brandon Marenco led the ground game last week with 181 yards and 2-TDs. The Carrollton defense is giving up 21 points per game. We think that Carrollton will put a lot of points on the board, we just don’t know if Loganville can keep pace. We’ll take the Trojans by 13 this week.

The Skinny

 

We saw perhaps the most apropos tweet during last weeks Coffee-Stephenson game… It said, “Coffee is starting to brew.” There is no doubt that the Trojans were on their game last week as they beat the No.1 seed Stephenson Jaguars. Coffee will now travel just south of Savannah to face Richmond Hill. Coffee is led by quarterback AJ Wilkerson who has passed for 1,179 yards and rushed for 461 yards and has accounted for 18 total TDs. Josiah Killebrew leads the team in rushing with 602 yards and 9-TDs. Meanwhile, the Richmond Hill Wildcats will host their first playoff game since 2013. Offensively, Richmond Hill has done most of their work on the ground this season. Jalen Rouse and Jamal Polite have been the leaders on offense. This season, the duo has combined for 1,149 yards and 12-TDs. Both teams have a common opponent in Brunswick. Coffee won their game by 13 while the Wildcats won by 34. With all of that said, we think that Coffee will get the best of Richmond Hill this week. We like the Trojans by 10.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Skinny

 

The Harrison Hoyas were the third No. 4 seed to beat a No. 1 seed last week in Class 6-A. The Hoyas will travel to Sugar Hill to take on the Lanier Longhorns. We mentioned last week that the Hoyas are not the run of the mill No. 4 seed. Harrison was within one-point of a region title the last game of the regular season.  The Hoyas are led by quarterback Gavin Hall and junior running back David Roberts. Harrison is averaging 38.2 points per game, while their defense is giving up 18.4 points per game. The host Lanier Longhorns will be looking to get past the 2ndround for the first time in school history. The Longhorns are averaging 23.3 points per game, while their defense is giving up 14.9 points per game. Zach Calzada has passed for 1,431 yards and 13-TDs while Taj Barnes continue to lead the rushing attack with 856 yards and 4-TDs. We think that Lanier will be challenged against a physical Harrison defense. But we also believe the Hoyas win this game by a touchdown.

The Effingham County Rebels are next up for the Lee County Trojans. The Rebels got by Lakeside Evans by 6 points last week. Desmond House and Ashaud Roberson have combined for over 1,200 yards rushing through 10 games. Effingham County is averaging 26.1 points per game while the defense is allowing 17.9 points per game. The Rebels will be facing a Lee County team that is averaging 47.2 points per game and giving up 5 points per game. The 13 points allowed against Mundy’s Mill was the most that the team has given up in one game the entire season. We can’t think of many scenarios where the Rebels will have much success beating Lee County this week. We’ll take Lee County by four touchdowns.

The Creekview Grizzlies will host the Habersham Central Raiders in Canton on Friday. The Grizzly ground machine was back in action with Cade Radam leading the way with another 100-yard rushing game. Creekview is averaging 36.8 points per game, while their defense is only giving up 13.9 points per game. The Grizzlies defense will need to be on their game again this week as they try to corral Habersham Quarterback Tre’ Luttrell. During the regular season, Luttrell passed for over 2,000 yards and rushed for 674 yards. He accounted for 28 total TDs. Donovan Curry led the team during the regular season with 792 receiving yards. The Raiders are averaging 33 points per game but the defense is giving up 30.5 points per game. The Raiders got a big shutout win last week against Douglas County. However, we think the Grizzlies are the best team that Habersham has faced all season. We like the Grizzlies this week by seventeen.

The Valdosta Wildcats and Glynn Academy Terrors last met in the first round of the 2017 state playoffs; the Wildacts were victorious in that match up. In order to duplicate that success, Valdosta will lean on quarterback Tate Rodemaker (3,202 yards, 30-TDs). The Wildcats are averaging 42.5 points per game. But the defense is also giving up 36.2 points per game. The Terrors are winners of their last five games. They are averaging 29.4 points per game, but their defense is only giving up 17.8 points per game. The Terrors will depend primarily on the run game. The biggest question will be whether the can control the clock and keep Valdosta’s high scoring offense on the sidelines. We certainly think it’s possible…but not probable. We like Valdosta by 10 this week.

There is a saying that defense travels. You can bet the Allatoona Buccaneers hopes their defense travels with them this week as they take on the Dacula Falcons. The Bucs are only giving up 14.2 points per game this season on defense. Calvin Rucker and Eric Carty have combined for 15.5 sacks, while Jansen Trigg has picked off 5 passes. The Bucs will face a Dacula team that is scoring 34 points per game. Dacula’s only two losses came to the hands of 7-A schools Mill Creek and Mountain View, (both of whom made the playoffs). Trenton Jones leads the Falcons rushing attack, but it’s not a one-man show. As Jalen Perry, Kyle Efford have all played big roles this season. The Dacula defense has been just as stout as Allatoona’s; giving up 14.2 points per game. A Falcons win would get them to the quarterfinals for the first time in 5 years. We like their chances this week. Give us Dacula by 4 points.


 

 

 

The Skinny

 

The Bradwell Institute Tigers were one of the No. 4 seeds to upset a No.1 seed in Class 6-A. The Tigers will be back on the road this week, this time in Warner Robins, to take on the Northside Eagles. Northside rushed for 444 yards in their game last week against Tucker. Jadin Daniels has rushed for 1,289 yards on the season while Eric Smith has added 679 yards on the ground. Meanwhile, the Bradwell Institute offense has been powered by running back Kevin Harris (1,466 yards, 8-TDs) and quarterback Vencent Gilbert (1,508 yards passing, 8-TDs).  Both teams have a common opponent in Valdosta. Bradwell lost to Valdosta by 50, while Northside beat Valdosta by 2. We don’t think Northside will win by 50 this week, but we do like the Eagles by three touchdowns.

The Sequoyah Chiefs will take their ground attack to Fairburn as they face off with the Creekside Seminoles. Sequoyah is averaging 36 points per game on the season. Cole Jacobs and Jackson “Brick” Smith have combined for over 1,650 yards and 18-TDs. Senior quarterback Collier Pecht, (Pecht rhymes with faith), has 1,198 passing yards on the season with 11-TDs. The Chiefs defense has been pretty stingy, giving up 15.3 points per game. Meanwhile, the Creekside Seminoles have turned things around in one season. Last year, the Seminoles were winless. This season, Creekside is averaging 31.9 points per game and have recorded 8 wins this season. The Seminoles will use a balanced attack led be quarterback Lazarus Anderson (1,736 yards 13-TDs) and running backs Tyler Malone and Kentavious Rogers. Malone and Rogers have combined for 1,180 yards rushing and 11-TDs. We think the weather this week favors teams that can run the ball more effectively. We believe the Chiefs have the edge there. This game should be another nip and tuck affair. We’ll take the Chiefs by two.

The Skinny

 

Tift County scored the at-large bid and made the most of their opportunity by beating Roswell on the road. This week, the Blue Devils will head back to metro Atlanta; this time to take on the East Coweta Indians. If Tift County is going to advance, they’ll need to slow down Gerald Green. Green has rushed for 1,369 yards, including 270 yards last week against Marietta. The Indians are averaging 28.4 points per game, but are giving up 34.2 points per game. Mike Jones went over the century mark for the 4th time this season. He’s got 1,005 yards on the season. Tift is averaging 33.9 points per game this season. If East Coweta can get Green going again, they could make their deepest run in the playoffs since 2002. We think that Tift will be up to the task this week to take down the Indians. We like Tift by a touchdown.

 

 

 

 

 

This game might be the best game of the second round in Class 7-A. Both the Archer Tigers and Parkview Panthers have been playing at a high level this season. The Tigers are averaging 41.7 points per game this season. (Their only losses are to Milton and Grayson, two top-10 teams that are still alive in the playoffs.) The Tiger’s defense has pitched 3 shutouts this season. Meanwhile the Panthers have gone undefeated in 2018, with their offense generating 45.8 points per game, while their defense is only surrendering 13.8 points per game. Both teams have a common opponent in Milton; Parkview beat Milton by 2 while Archer lost to Milton by the same margin. We think this game will come down to the wire, but we like Parkview at home by a field goal.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Skinny

 

McEachern and Colquitt County will face off for the second time this season. Colquitt won the first meeting by 34 points. The Colquitt County Packers got off to a slow start last week, but did put away the Etowah Eagles in the second half. Jaycee Harden has guided the Packers with 1,906 passing yards and 19-TDs. His offense is scoring 46.1 points per game while the defense is giving up 9.6 points this season. McEachern’s offense is averaging 41.8 points per game behind quarterback Carlos Del Rio, and running backs Jordan Simmons and Paris Brown. We really think both teams have improved since game one, but we don’t think that McEachern has closed the gap that much. The Indians are talented, but we still think the Packers are at least two touchdowns better thank McEachern this week.

The North Gwinnett Bulldogs continue their march to the Benz. This season, the North Gwinnett defense is giving up 12.2 points per game. The Bulldogs have shutout their last 3 opponents. Ty Goodson left last week’s playoff game early, but Devin Crosby was able to pick up the slack for the Bulldogs. North Gwinnett’s opponent this week will be the West Forsyth Wolverines. West has won their last 5 games. They have challenged the likes of Roswell, and Camden County this season as well. The West offense is averaging 27.3 points per game, while their defense is allowing 21.2 points. This game should be close for 3 quarters, but we expect the Bulldogs to pull away late and win this one by two touchdowns.

The Skinny

 

 

If the Westlake Lions were ever looking for some respect, a win in the second round of the playoffs against Lowndes would certainly add some validation to an already great season. Westlake’s only losses this season came at the hands of Grayson and nationally ranked Deerfield Beach. The Westlake offense is averaging 42.9 points per game. The Lowndes Vikings will travel to Atlanta and bring with them an offense that is averaging 45.7 points per game. They are powered by running back Travis Tisdale who has over 1,500 yards on the season. Jacurri Brown and Joe Almond have split time filling in for the injured Andrew Koenemann at quarterback. Although both teams are scoring over 40 points per game, we think this will be a lower scoring game and will take the visiting Lowndes Vikings on the road by 4 over Westlake.

 

 

The Skinny

 

The last time that Norcross and Grayson faced off was in the first round of the 2017 playoffs. The two teams will play again in the playoffs for the right to advance to the quarter-finals. Norcross is averaging 33 points per game this season. They are led by quarterback Louis Williams, wide receiver Isaiah Wilson and running backs Lance Jackson and Kameryn Jackson.  Grayson will counter with an offense that’s led by quarterback J’kori Jones, running back Jonathan Halyard and receiver Kenyon Jackson. They are averaging 42.2 points per game. However, we think that the difference in this ballgame will be the Grayson defense. The Rams are only giving up 16 points per game this season. We think Kevin Harris, Owen Pappoe and the rest of the Rams defense will be able to keep the Blue Devils in check. We like the Rams by two touchdowns.

 

The Skinny

 

Two of the top schools in Cobb County will face off on Friday as the Walton visits Hillgrove. The Walton Raiders primarily attack through the air with quarterback Austin Kirksey passing for over 1,200 yards this season in limited action due to injury. Last week, the Raiders got a big performance from running back D.J. Soyoye. On the season, the Raiders are averaging 39 points per game. The host Hillgrove Hawks are averaging 36.8 points per game and come into this game undefeated. They have done most of their damage on the ground this season. The Hillgrove defense is only giving up 15.8 points per game this season. Yet, the Walton offense is a little more prolific than any of the others that Hillgrove has seen this season. We like Walton by a touchdown this week.

 

 

 

 

 

The Skinny

 

The Milton Eagles will host the Mill Creek Hawks this Friday. Milton got past a stubborn South Gwinnett team last week. The Eagles are led by Georgia Tech commit Jordan Yates who has passed for 1,882 yards and rushed for 709. The Eagles are averaging 39.5 points per game, while their defense is surrendering 19.5 points. Milton’s only two losses were by a combined 4 points; and both of those teams made the playoffs. Mill Creek edged Brookwood in their first round game last week. Chancellor Lee-Parker leads the Mill Creek attack. Last week, he and Parker Wroble led the way on the ground to get the Hawks past Brookwood in overtime. Mill Creek is averaging 34.1 points per game this season, but their defense is giving up 24.2. Their only losses were to 3 top ten ranked teams. Milton is our pick to advance to the quarterfinals; we like the Eagles by 11.

TFR 2018 1-A-Private Playoff Preview 2 of 2

Our second and final set of Class A-Private playoff previews are listed below. This preview features matchups between  Riverside Military Academy-George Walton Academy, Hebron Christian-Mount Paran Christian, Stratford Academy-Aquinas, and Whitfield Academy-Trinity Christian. The Riverside Military Eagles will travel to Monroe to face the George Walton Academy Bulldogs. Isaac Teasley leads the Eagles in passing with 1,323 yards and in rushing yards with 794 while accounting for 19-total TDs. Khalid Duke leads the team in receiving with 529 yards and 4-TDs. They will face a George Walton team that is only surrendering 12.5 points per game and their two losses are by a combined 10 points. We think the Bulldogs defense will be the difference this week. We like George Walton by two touchdowns.

Hebron Christian will face off against Mt. Paran Christian in Kennesaw on Friday. Hebron Christian is led by sophomore quarterback Colton Gauthier, who has passed for 1,782 yards and 18-TDs. Jeff Saturday has been his main target, as he’s racked up 829 yards and 10-TDs. Mount Paran sports a defense that is only allowing 14.5 points per game this season. The Eagles are averaging 30.2 points per game on offense, but have only beaten one team that has qualified for the playoffs. We think the Eagles are ripe for an upset. We like Hebron by a field goal on the road.

 



 

 

 

 

 

The Skinny

 

The Stratford Academy Eagles head east to take on the Aquinas Fighting Irish in Augusta for the second time in as many weeks. Stratford has had some issues getting points on the board, as they are only averaging 16.7 points per game. Much of that might have to do with a pretty challenging schedule Stratford has played. Meanwhile, Aquinas is averaging 30.4 points per game. Most of that production has come on the ground. Kam Brinson and Ashlon Williams have combined for 1,451 yards and 16-TDs on the season. Stratford did get the win last week, but we look for Aquinas to right the ship and win this week by a touchdown.

 The Whitefield Academy Wolfpack will travel to Sharpsburg to face the Trinity Christian Lions. Whitefield is averaging 23.6 points per game this season, but has not beaten a team that qualified for the post season. Meanwhile, Trinity Christian is making their first GHSA playoff appearance this week. The Lions will look to running back Zach Jones to lead them again this week. On the season, Jones has rushed for 988 yards and 10-TDs. Trinity Christian is averaging 22.7 points per game but does have wins over three teams that qualified for the playoffs. The Skinny

 

Holy Innocents will travel to Macon to take on the Mount de Sales Cavaliers. The Bears are averaging 34.7 points per game this season and most of that offense comes by way of the ground. The team has churned out over 3,100 yards rushing and is led my Michael Cox (1,262 yards, 20-TDs). They will face a Mount de Sales team that is only giving up 14.1 points per game. Mt. De Sales has beaten four teams that qualified for the state tournament. We’ll take the Cavaliers over the Bears by 10 points.

Savannah Country day will travel to Atlanta to take on the Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Mustangs. Mount Vernon is led on offense by running back Austin Douglas (1,278 yards 14-TDs) and quarterback Blake Kytle (2,072 yards, 22-TDs). The Mustangs are averaging 30.7 points per game and have two wins over teams that qualified for the state tournament. Savannah Country Day is led by a defense that is only allowing 11.4 points per game. On offense, Donovan Davelaar has rushed for 652 yards and 4-TDs while Matthew Mims leads the team in receiving with 365 yards and 6-TDs. We believe the Hornets might have trouble containing Douglas and that should be the difference. We like the Mustangs at home by 13.


 

 

 

The Skinny

 

The Brookstone Cougars will travel to Dalton to face the Christian Heritage Lions. Brookstone’s offense is powered by running back Jeremiah Burgess who has rushed for 1,140 yards and 17-TDs. As a team, the Cougars have rushed for almost 3,000 yards on the season. Brookstone is averaging a healthy 40.8 points per game, but the defense is giving up 28.6 points per game. Christian Heritage is led by quarterback Matthew Neff who is having a banner year leading the Lions. Even Lester and Zach Gentry are two big time receivers. The Lions scored a big win early in the season against Mt. Zion, Carroll and proved they can play with the top teams in Class-A. Christian Heritage is only giving up 16 points per game. We think they will be the difference in a close game. We’ll take the Lions by a field goal.

 


 

 

 

 

 

The Skinny

 

The Tattnall Square Trojans head north to take on the Wesleyan Wolves. The Trojans have wins over two teams that qualified for the state tournament. They are averaging 30.4 poins per game, but their defense is allowing 26.5 points. Wesleyan will counter with an offense led by freshman quarterback J.C. French. French has passed for 1,582 yards and 12-TDs on the year. The Wolves have closed out the season strong with four consecutive wins. We aren’t sure if they’ll have enough offense to keep pace with the Trojans, but we like the home team anyway this week. Wesleyan by a touchdown.

The Skinny

 

The Trion Bulldogs will host the Wilcox County Patriots. The Patriots are averaging 23.7 points per game while the defense is giving up 19.5 points per game. Wilcox County has not beaten a team that qualified for the playoffs this season. Meanwhile, the Trion Bulldogs will lean on the run game and senior Hagen Willingham who can do a little of it all. The Bulldogs defeated 2 playoff-bound teams in the regular season and are averaging 24.9 points per game Trion’s defense has given up 16.8 points per game. Trion is undefeated at home this season. We think that streak continue this week; we like Trion by 10.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Skinny

 

The Montgomery County Eagles will travel to Claxton to face the Claxton Tigers for the third time this season. The Eagles won both battles so far this season. The most recent victory was a one point win last week. Needless to say, these teams are very familiar with each other. Montgomery County is averaging 31.8 points per game, while their defense is surrendering 18.9 points per game. DaQuan Jackson is a name to keep an eye on in this game. The Eagles should try to get him the ball in many different ways. The Claxton Tigers are led by dual threat quarterback Karon Taylor, who has passed for 640 yards, rushed for 516 yards and accounted for 15 total-TDs. Shakari Denson has intercepted 6 passes on the season for the Tigers defense. Claxton is only averaging 17.7 points per game. We think they’ll need to outpace that this week. We don’t believe that the third time is a charm, we like Montgomery County to win this one by 10.

 

 

 

 

The Skinny

Taylor County has had an up and down season. They are averaging 25.8 points per game and giving up 21.1 points per game. The Vikings have favored the run this season by almost a two-to-one margin. Isaiah Waymon and Jabin Ford have combined for almost 900 yards rushing. The Charlton County Indians are averaging 28 points per game, while their defense is giving up 193.6 points per game. Charlton County’s losses came against two of the top teams in 1-A and to 3-A Appling. That’s enough information to convince us that Charlton should win this game this week. We like the Indians by 10.

Hancock Central and Dooly County have not met in 27 years. The Hancock Central Bulldogs are averaging 27.7 points per game. Their defense is giving up 19.3 points per game.  Dooly County is led by dual threat quarterback, Bo Lawson. Lawson has passed for 1,655 yards and rushed for 1,104 yards. And accounted for 33-TDs. The Bobcats defense have recorded 24 sacks on the season. We think Bo Lawson might be the difference maker in this game. We like Dooly by a touchdown.

The Skinny

 

The Seminole County Indians will travel almost 300 miles to take on the Commerce Tigers. The Indians are in the post season for the first time in five years. Seminole County is averaging 23.5 points per game, while their defense is giving up 23.7 points per game. The Indians enter the post season on a three game losing streak. The Commerce Tigers have also dropped their last two games, but the Tigers offense has been a little more prolific. Commerce is averaging 34.2 points per game, while their defense is only surrendering 11.3 points per game. We think Commerce wins this game going away on Friday night; Tigers by three touchdowns.

The Turner County Rebels will travel to Colquitt, Georgia to take on the Miller County Pirates. Turner County is led by quarterback Demarcus Barnes, who has accounted for over 1,100 yards of total offense and 16-TDs. The Rebels are averaging 20.9 points per game while the defense is giving up 19.1 points per game. Miller County will look to the ground game this week as they have most of the season. As a team, they have rushed for 2,081 yards. Chris Stovall and Janorris Byrd have combined for over 1,600 yards and 20-TDs. Byrd has also picked off 7 passes on the season. We think that duo will be enough for the Pirates to win this first round matchup. We like the Pirates by 17.

The Macon County Bulldogs will visit Cusseta to face the Chattahoochee County Panthers. Macon County is averaging 30.8 points per game on offense. DeShawn Cumby has passed for 1,397 yards and 18-TDs, while Davion Clark has rushed for 728 yards and 8-TDs. Meanwhile, the Panthers will rely heavily on the run. This season, the team has rushed for over 2,00 yards. Brandon Thomas leads the way with 549 yards and 10-TDs. The Panthers are also averaging 31.2 points per game. This game looks like a toss-up, so we’ll take the home team, Chattahoochee County, by a field goal.

The ECI Bulldogs will host the Manchester Blue Devils. The Bulldogs are averaging 33.3 points per game, while the defense is giving up 17.6 points per game. ECI went undefeated in sub-region play this season. Manchester is averaging over 35 points per game, while their defense is giving up 19.2 points per game. Last season both teams made deep runs in the post season. This season, we think it will be host, ECI that advances. We like the Bulldogs by a touchdown.
