TFR – GHSA Class 5-A Final Preview

In a battle of two undefeated teams, Rome will look to repeat as state champions. But in order to do so, they will need to slow down a very explosive Warner Robins team. The Demons are in search of their first state title since 2004. Dylan Fromm leads the pass happy attack and the Demons will certainly challenge one the best defensive fronts in the state. It will be interesting to see if Adam Anderson and the Rome front four will be able to get pressure on Fromm. Will Rome be able to get the ground game going again this week?

This is certainly one of the more intriguing matchups this weekend. As always, thanks for reading our preview. Please feel free to comment and share.

TFR – GHSA Class 6-A Final Preview

The Class 6-A finals will feature a rematch of a regular season Region-1 tilt between the Coffee Trojans and the Lee County Trojans. Lee County got the best of Coffee in the first matchup just over a month ago. The big question mark here will be the health of the Coffee running backs. Both defenses answered the bell last week, which could lend some insight into this game. We don’t expect a ton of point scored in this one, but it should be a great battle by these two south Georgia teams, both in search of their first state title.

TFR – GHSA Class 7-A Final Preview

The Final’s are all set. The Colquitt County Packers will make their fifth straight trip into metro Atlanta. This week, it’s another Gwinnett County foe, the North Gwinnett Bulldogs. This game will close out the state football playoffs and be played as the nightcap on Saturday night. We think this will be a high scoring game. The Packers are no stranger to Atlanta or to the spotlight. Can North Gwinnett stay hot. We will find out Saturday night.

TFR – GHSA Class 2-A Semi-Final Preview

The Class 2-A semifinals will feature 3 teams in search of their first state title. Brooks County is the only team of the four with a title, but that was back in 1994 when the Trojans last reigned as champions. The Trojans have been in the semi-finals in four of the last 10 years. Their opponent, Rabun County, is looking to make the most of their first semi-final appearance.

In the second semi-final matchup, Heard County is also making their first semi-final appearance. While their visitors from Hapeville are appearing in their second consecutive semi-finals. The winners of these games will play on Saturday, December 9th at Mercedes Benz Stadium.

It should be a great Friday of high school football. As always, thanks for reading. Please feel free to share and comment.

TFR – GHSA Class 3-A Semi-Final Preview

The Class 3-A playoffs feature 4 teams who are not strangers to the big stage. For Peach County, this is their second consecutive year to reach the semi-finals They will be looking for their first state title since 2009. Standing in their way this week is Greater Atlanta Christian (GAC). GAC is in the semi-finals for the fifth time in six years. They reached the finals in two of the last three seasons as well. The Spartans are seeking their first state title.

In the other semi-final matchup, the Cedar Grove Saints are in the semi-finals for the third straight season. They are the defending champs and are looking to repeat for the school’s second state title. Their opponent will be the Calhoun Yellow Jackets. Calhoun has reached the semi-finals eight out of the last ten seasons. The Yellow Jackets are looking for their fourth state title; their last one was in 2014.

TFR – GHSA Class 4-A Semi-Final Preview

The St. Pious Golden Lions might be the hottest team in Class 4-A. They are the winners of 8 straight and are looking to knock of rival Marist in the 53rd meeting of the two schools. Marist won by a field goal earlier this season. Both teams will rely on the run mixing in several backs during the course of the game.

In the other semi-final game, Blessed Trinity will travel to take on the Mary Persons Bulldogs. Mary Persons beat Blessed Trinity in the quarter-finals last season by 1. The Titans have been on a roll themselves, and have been road warriors in the playoffs. By now we all know how they upset Cartersville and also beat Thomson on the road. Can Blessed Trinity make it back to the finals as it did two years ago? The Bulldogs are trying to make it back to the finals for the first time since 1993.

The winners of these games will play on Saturday, December 9th at Mercedes Benz Stadium.

TFR – GHSA Class 5-A Semi-Final Preview

Perhaps the best semi-final game in all classifications will be the battle of the Wolves, in which Buford will travel to Rome in a true clash of titans. These teams met for the state title last season and this games has all the makings of an instant classic. Will the Rome defense continue to dominate or will Buford be able to break through and find a chink in the armor.

In the other semi-final matchup, Carver of Atlanta makes their first semifinal appearance since 1968. The Carver offense can beat you in many ways. Will the Warner Robins Demons be able to match Carver’s high octane offense? The Demons showed the can score last week, with a 63 point outburst. Could this be an offensive highlight reel for both teams. Only time will tell.

The winners of these games will play each other in Mercedes Benz Stadium on Friday, December 8th.

TFR – GHSA Class 6-A Semi-Final Preview

Perhaps the only surprise in the final four here are the Glynn Academy Terrors. But we won’t take anything away from Glynn Academy, they are 3-0 and thus have earned their spot in the semi-finals as have Tucker, Coffee, and Lee County. Interesting that 3 of the four contenders here are from south Georgia. Tucker is still our favorite to win the title, but Coffee is a very formidable challenge for Tucker. We just really like the Tucker Tiger defense.

In any event, the winners will square off on Friday, December 8th in Mercedes Benz Stadium.

TFR – GHSA Class 7-A Semi-Final Preview

The Final Four is all set with a foursome of heavy weights. While we might be surprised to not see teams such as Lowndes or Grayson in the final four, these four have battled their way through a tough bracket. Colquitt will head to metro Atlanta for the fourth straight week. Will the fourth straight road trip finally de-rail the Packers? The McEachern Indians will face possibly the hottest team in 7-A, the North Gwinnett Bulldogs. McEachern has already knocked off the Lowndes Vikings so they won’t be intimidated by the big stage. The winners off this weeks games will play in the state title game at Mercedes Benz Stadium on December 9th.
