The Skinny

The Thomasville Bulldogs will travel to Hephzibah to take on the Rebels this week. The Bulldogs Freshman quarterback Chase Mascoe has passed for 1,937 yards and 17-TDs. Kevin Cochran and Jakarius Tillman have combined for 76 receptions and 1,224 yards and 9-TDs. Tan Gelin leads the rushing attack with 723 yards and 9-TDs. The Bulldogs are averaging 29.9 points per game on offense. Hephzibah dropped down two classes this season and have had a lot of success. They are averaging 29.7 points per game. Most of their damage has been done on the ground. Rayquan Riley has run for 1,591 yards and 20-TDs. He has been the beneficiary of running behind Corby “Big Country” McIntyre and MacKenzie Woodruff. This game is one might be the best opening round game and it could go either way, but we’ll go with the home team to edge Thomasville by 1 point this week.

The Skinny

Toombs County will travel to Dublin to take on the Fighting Irish in the Shamrock Bowl. The Bulldogs are led by junior quarterback Trey Cloud who has passed for 1,410 yards and 10-TDs. Derrick Mincey and Demetrius Owns have combined to rush for over 1,200 yards and 19-TDs on the season. Toombs will have their hands full with a Dublin team that is averaging 38.1 points per game and are only giving up 7.1 points per game on defense. Dublin has done  most of their damage on the ground this season. We expect the Fighting Irish to run away with this one. Dublin by four touchdowns.

The Skinny

The Pepperell Dragons will travel to Atlanta to face the Douglass Astros at Lakewood Stadium. The only blemish on the Astros record is a loss to Hapeville Charter. Outside of that, the Astros are averaging 35.4 points per game while their defense is allowing 11.1 points per game. The Astros have rushed for 3,132 on the year. Juan Powell leads the way with 1,432 yards and 19-TDs. The Pepperell Dragons and sophomore quarterback Gage Moses will try to figure out the Douglass defense. Through 9 games, Moses has passed for 1,349 yards and 16-TDs. Moses also leads the team with 420 yards rushing. Moses is a budding star for Pepperell, but this Friday we think that it’s Douglass that will shine the brightest. We like the Astros by 13.

The Skinny

The Monticello Hurricanes will travel to Franklin to face the Heard County Braves. The Hurricanes are led by Dylan Jackson and Chance Hope who have combined for over 1,100 yards and 7-TDs. Jaymerious Fleetwood has passed for 1,129 yards and accounted for 19 total TDs. Fleetwood has also intercepted 4 passes on the season. Monticello is averaging 22.5 points per game on the season, but their defense is surrendering 25.1 points per game. Since back to back 30-point losses, Heard County has reeled of 7-straight wins. They are led by two-way star Aaron Beasley. The Braves Defense has been staunch this season, surrendering 12.5 points per game.We think that the Heard County defense will keep Fleetwood in check this week. Heard wins by 17.
