Our third set of 2-A playoff previews are listed below. This preview features matchups between Jeff Davis-Dodge County, Early County-Jefferson County, Bremen-Union County, and South Atlanta-Rockmart. The Dodge County offense has had a lot of success on the ground. Jeff Davis will try to slow them down this week…Early County will try to overcome all odds to take down Jefferson County. Jefferson County looks primed to make a deep run this season…Union County has moved down from 3-A and has played well this season behind the arm of Pierson Allison. But Bremen another team moving down from 3-A has a stout defense…Meanwhile Rockmart looks like they can challenge Hapeville later in the playoffs. But first they must take care of business against South Atlanta…

As always, thanks for reading. Please feel free to contact me if there are any errors.

The Skinny

Outside of a mid-season loss to Dublin, Dodge County has looked very good this season. Jeff Davis will try to knock if the Indians this week when they visit Eastman. The Yellow Jackets area averaging 29.4 points per game, while the defense is giving up 22.1 points per game. Meanwhile Dodge County will try to run past the Yellow Jackets. Dodge has rushed for over 2,300 yards on the season as a team. They are led by quarterback RJ Carr and running back Erin Pitts. The duo has combined for over 1,478 yards rushing and 20-TDs. The Indians are only attempting four passes per game. Dodge is averaging 27.4 points per game and have beaten four playoff teams on the season. We think this one will be close, but we like Dodge to win by a touchdown.

The Skinny

Early County returns to playoffs for the first time in 3 years and will travel to Louisville to take on the Jefferson County Warriors. Not only has Early County had to face opponents on the field, the entire community has had to battle the after effects of  Hurricane Michael. Early County is averaging 15.5 points per game on the season, while their defense is giving up 17.2 points per game. Jefferson County is averaging 36.3 points per game while they are giving up 15.7 points per game. The Warriors have also beaten three playoff teams. We like the Warriors to make the win streak 9 this week. Jefferson County wins by four touchdowns this week.

The Skinny

Union County was reclassified this offseason and moved down from 3-A. The Panthers have made the best of the move and are averaging 42.5 points per game behind junior quarterback Pierson Allison. Allison has passed for 2,695 yards and 23-TDs. Chad Buzzard has churned out 558 rushing yards and 11-TDs on the ground. Sawyer Drake has caught 43 passes for 886 yards as well. Bremen, who visits Union County on Friday, is averaging 35.4 points per game, while their defense is only giving up 11 points per game. Bremen will look to control the game on the ground. Bremen beat Rabun County early in the season. Why is that important… because Rabun County beat Union by 28 last week. We think this game will be somewhat closer, but we still like Bremen by three touchdowns.

The Skinny

The South Atlanta Hornets will travel to Rockmart to take on the Rockmart Yellow Jackets. The Hornets have an unenviable task in this weeks game. The Hornets are averaging 26.1 points per game this season and are only giving up 17 points per game. But Rockmart is averaging 47.5 points per game and are only giving up 6.1 points. We think Rockmart has a chance to make a deep run and possibly challenge Hapeville later on down the road. We like the Jackets by four touchdowns this week.
