This week’s GHSA Football Poll has been published. There were a handful of surprises this week, but perhaps the biggest was in Class 3-A as Monroe Area defeated previous No. 1, Oconee County. In other action in Class 7-A, Brookwood defeated Grayson while Milton knocked off rival, Roswell. The wins but both Milton and Brookwood firmly in the driver’s seat for region titles. Meanwhile in Class 6-A, Cambridge was upset by Riverwood. The loss drops the Bears from the polls and Riverwood debuts at No. 10 this week. The Class 5-A and Class 4-A poll remained unchanged.
The Cedar Grove Saints are our new No. 1 team in Class 3-A after the aforementioned Oconee County loss to Monroe Area. Carver-Atlanta finds themselves at No. 10 after defeating previously unbeaten Sandy Creek. Down in Class 2-A Jeff Davis drops from the poll after a loss to Swainsboro. That makes room for the Fannin County Rebels in at No. 10 this week for the first time this season.
Class A-Public remains unchanged while in Class A-Private, Athens Academy is back in the poll at No. 10.
