Happy Halloween! In Week-11, there were definitely some tricks and treats handed out. Our GHSA Football Poll this week reflects some of the happenings this past week. Class 7A saw Collins Hill continue their mastery of the season as they downed Mill Creek to claim the Region-8 title. Mill Creek drops two spots while the rest of the poll remains relatively unchanged. Class 6A remained unchanged this week.
In Class 5A, Whitewater is in at No. 10 for the first time this season, as Decatur lost to Southwest DeKalb, which dropped them from the poll. Calhoun drops two spots after a 7 point loss to Cartersville on the road. Class 4A might have seen the biggest upset of the weekend as North Oconee beat previously No. 1 ranked Jefferson to claim the Region 8 title. The win has the Titans up to No. 8 this week, while Jefferson falls to 4. Carver Columbus is the new No. 1 team this week in 4A.
Both Class 3A and Class 2A remained unchanged this week. Class A-Public has a new No. 10 team as the Trion Bulldogs make their debut in the poll this week. Washington-Wilkes is out of the poll after a loss to Commerce. Meanwhile in Class A-Private, Holy Innocents’ beat region rival Wesleyan and is up to No. 6 this week, while Wesleyan falls to No. 8.
