Week 10 – Turd Furgeson Report Top-10

Last week provided us with some great match-ups and provided a little more clarity into the region races. It was a week with a few surprises involved. IN 7-A we saw Grayson go down to Archer in a defensive battle while Lowndes outlasted Tift County. In 6-A Lee County edged Northside, Warner Robins in overtime. While Langston Hughes upset Alexander in two-overtimes. Perhaps in the biggest upset of the weekend, Hiram beat Carrollton 41-14. Class 4-A Woodward Academy outlasted Eastisde, Covington 28-21, on what some would consider a questionable fumble call when Eastside was driving. In the only top 10 battle in 3-A, Morgan County beat Monroe Area by 1 to claim control in Region 8. Heard County beat Callaway in a back and forth battle in class 2-A. There were no surprises of note in Class-A

Only two new entrants into the poll this week, they are both in Class 6-A, Dalton and Richmond Hill both make their debut into the poll this week. Enjoy the poll and please feel free to comment and let us know of any corrections that might be necessary.

TFR High School Preview Bonus Games

There are two games that we thought were extremely intriguing that don’t involved ranked teams in the GWSA poll, they are both rivalry games and both involve teams at the top of their region. In Class 2-A Pepperell travels to Rockmart to take on the Yellow Jackets and in Class 6-A Brunswick and Glynn Academy battle for the “City Championship” down in Brunswick. There is great football across our great state regardless of classification. If you are in ear shot of either of these games, I strongly recommend that you check them out. They should be very competitive and entertaining. Best of luck to all teams competing this Friday!

TFR Week-9 Cherokee County Football Preview

This edition features 3 previews covering 4 teams. First up, the Woodstock Wolverines host the Lassiter Trojans. Lassiter is smarting from a loss to Roswell and is looking to get back on track. We really like Woodstock’s explosiveness on offense but they’ve been a little inconsistent this season. A win this week will put the Wolverines back into the play-offs.

Meanwhile Sequoyah travels to Dalton to take on the Catamounts. Dalton has won the last three in the series and is currently ranked #5 in the state by the Georgia Sports Writers. Can Sequoyah win at Bill Chappell Stadium; it’s been 8 years since that’s been done.

Finally, River Ridge, in search of their first county win in program history, will host the Creekview Grizzlies. This game is a must win for both teams in order to keep their play-off hopes alive.

Please enjoy the read and feel free to comment. Get out and support these young men as we enter the last half of the regular season.

Week 9 – Turd Furgeson Report Top-10

With each passing week, some playoff pictures begin to gain some clarity, while others get a little more muddled. Last week, Brookwood asserted its dominance against previously unbeaten Meadowcreek. Northside, Warner Robins held off the upset minded Valdosta Wildcats, and Mays beat Douglas County handily.

Some of the top games this week include Grayson visiting Archer, Northside Warner Robins traveling to Lee County, Morgan County hosting Monroe Area, and Heard County against Callaway.

New entrants into this weeks poll include the Stephenson Jaguars in 6-A, Wayne County and Kell in 5-A, Morgan County and Lovett in 3-A and Darlingotn re-enters the poll in Class A-Private.

Enjoy and please feel free to comment about the poll.
