TFR Week-12 Cherokee County Football Preview

We have reached the final week of the regular season and there are 4 teams that are still alive in the play-off race. The county will get 3 teams into the playoffs this season, Etowah, Woodstock, and either Sequoyah or Creekview. And while Cherokee and River Ridge have been eliminated from post season contention, there is still a lot to play for.

This will be the last installment of the Cherokee County Football Preview. We certainly have enjoyed the discussions around Cherokee County Football. Thanks to all who have helped to make this a successful season. The weather should be great for highschool football. Please get out and support these young men this weekend!

TFR Week 11 – Eight Greats Around the State – Part II

As we mentioned yesterday, we are entering the penultimate week in the GHSA regular season and several teams have a  chance to clinch a share of region titles. On the other hand, some teams have a chance to make these late season region standings, well, muddled to say the least. Today we will look at a few of the big games around the state that feature teams that are locked in battles for region titles. These include Lowndes vs Colquitt, Calhoun vs Bremen, Clinch County vs Charlton County and Thomson vs Burke County.

It should be an exciting week of high school football in Georgia. We encourage you to get out and check at a local game in your area, especially if you are close to any of these featured matchups.

TFR Week-11 Cherokee County Football Preview

With only two weeks left in the regular season, there are still a lot of races to be determined. Can Creekview find its way back into the playoff picture? Where will Etowah and Lassiter end up in the standings? Can Sequoyah down Harrison and muddle things up in Region 6-6A. They will have a great chance as they face a Hoya squad without their star quarterback. The playoff picture will get a little clearer this weekend.

In any event, it should be great weather Friday night for high school football in Cherokee and Cobb County. Bundle up and get out and watch these young men compete as they round out the season!

Week 11 – Turd Furgeson Report Top-10

Another week in the books in the GHSA football season. We have gotten some clarity in Region races, but there is still much to be decided in the last two weeks of the regular season. This week we welcome Alpharetta and Douglas County into the class 6-A poll; Griffin back into the 5-A poll; Cedartown into the 4-A poll after their victory over Troop County; in 2-A Heard County makes its debut in the poll; and in 1-A Public Trion comes in at No. 10.

Enjoy the poll, it won’t matter in two weeks, once the regular season is over. Please feel free to comment or add corrections where necessary. TFR Week-10 High School Preview Bonus Game

Earlier in the pre-season. The Pickens Dragons said that TFR was sleeping on them. We at TFR “sleep” on no team. We have certain ideas of how a season or a game will play out but, the games must be played, meaning most teams will have a chance to earn wins week in and week out. The Pickens Dragons will travel to Rossville to take on the Ridgeland Panthers, a top-10 power. Pickens has an explosive offense that can score points in bunches. Ridgeland has a defense that has stymied opponents; relinquishing only 6 points per game. A Pickens win muddles up the playoff picture. A Ridgeland win would all but wrap up the region. Our preview is below.

Please feel free to comment and share. Best of luck to both teams competing tonight.

TFR Week-10 Cherokee County Football Preview

This week we preview five county teams that will take the field this Friday night. By our counts, there are 3 county teams that are vying for a post season playoff spot. They are 7-A Woodstock and Roswell, and 6-A Sequoyah. Getting victories over the next few weeks will certainly be paramount for these teams as they vie for a playoff spot, or to improve their current region positioning.

Even though Creekview, River Ridge and Cherokee are all but eliminated from post-season contention, they still are still intent on finishing the season on a high note. Make sure you get out and support all of our county teams as the we enter the home stretch of the regular season.

As always, please feel free to comment or let us know of any egregious errors. Thanks for reading!
