Week 4 Turd Furgeson Report Top-10

Below is a run down of the poll. There were some big matchups across classifications this past weekend. Colquitt held serve against Tucker, Thomson held off Jefferson and Grayson edged McEachern.

As always, polls are meant to spark discussion. I welcome all comments. I’m sure I’ve overlooked some teams. This poll nor any poll means anything once the second season, the playoffs, begin in November.

Thanks for reading. Drop me a line if you feel so inclined. We would appreciate the feedback!

TFR – Cherokee County Football – Week 3 Preview

For the first time this season, all six county teams will be in action. Four teams will be matching up in cross-county rivalry games, with Creekview taking on Cherokee and Sequoyah traveling to Woodstock. In the other two match-ups, River Ridge looks to stay red hot on offense against Forsyth Central; while Etowah takes a ride up I-85 to take on Spartanburg High in Spartanburg, SC.

Last week, we were treated to some spectacular performances from players such as Gino Porter, Andrew Herring, Alex Beltran, Cole Jacobs, Blake Jones, Chandler Gant and Tanner McCrary. Who will step up this week. I’ve got a hunch that those Woodstock Wolverines are chomping at the bit to get back onto the field with some highlight performances of their own.

No matter who you cheer for, get out on Friday night and support our boys from Cherokee County. Creekview - CherokeeFC-River RidgeEtowah-SpartanburgWoodstock-Sequoyah

Week 3 Turd Furgeson Report Top-10 Poll

Below is a run down of the poll. There were some great games this week. Some shockers, and some of the usual suspects taking care of business. Cartersville capped off a big weekend in Georgia High School Football by holding off Bartram Trail out of St. Johns, Florida.

Some of the more eye raising results: Langston Hughes defeats Westlake; Calhoun blanks Dalton; Thomasville defeats TCC for the programs 700th win; and Clinch County wins big over McIntosh County Academy.

As always, polls are meant to spark discussion. I welcome all comments. I’m sure I’ve overlooked some teams. This poll nor any poll means anything once the second season, the playoffs, begin in November.

TFR – Cherokee County Football – Week 2 Preview

Once again, five county teams will be in action under the Friday night lights. And all five teams will be playing in Cherokee County. Will anyone be able to match Geno Portera’s 4 touchdown performance (3 rushing, 1 passing) this week? He was certainly a standout. Oh, and how about Latrell Bankston’s two sacks and 13 total tackles. Is there a more imposing defensive lineman in the county? And what about Wesley Potter’s game winning field goal for Sequoyah; not to mention his pick 6 on defense earlier in the game. Certainly some standout performances county wide. Who will step up this week for their respective teams?!?!

This weeks action includes the 22nd meeting between Cherokee and Sequoyah. We take a look at this match up as well as games for Etowah, Creekview, and River Ridge. All county teams are still in non-region play, so these games are excellent opportunities for growth and experience.  With 4 home games in county, make sure you get out and support these boys, this Friday night…under the lights…
