Week 3 Turd Furgeson Report Top-10 Poll

Below is a run down of the poll. There were some great games this week. Some shockers, and some of the usual suspects taking care of business. Cartersville capped off a big weekend in Georgia High School Football by holding off Bartram Trail out of St. Johns, Florida.

Some of the more eye raising results: Langston Hughes defeats Westlake; Calhoun blanks Dalton; Thomasville defeats TCC for the programs 700th win; and Clinch County wins big over McIntosh County Academy.

As always, polls are meant to spark discussion. I welcome all comments. I’m sure I’ve overlooked some teams. This poll nor any poll means anything once the second season, the playoffs, begin in November.

TFR – Cherokee County Football – Week 2 Preview

Once again, five county teams will be in action under the Friday night lights. And all five teams will be playing in Cherokee County. Will anyone be able to match Geno Portera’s 4 touchdown performance (3 rushing, 1 passing) this week? He was certainly a standout. Oh, and how about Latrell Bankston’s two sacks and 13 total tackles. Is there a more imposing defensive lineman in the county? And what about Wesley Potter’s game winning field goal for Sequoyah; not to mention his pick 6 on defense earlier in the game. Certainly some standout performances county wide. Who will step up this week for their respective teams?!?!

This weeks action includes the 22nd meeting between Cherokee and Sequoyah. We take a look at this match up as well as games for Etowah, Creekview, and River Ridge. All county teams are still in non-region play, so these games are excellent opportunities for growth and experience.  With 4 home games in county, make sure you get out and support these boys, this Friday night…under the lights…

Week 2 Turd Ferguson Report Top-10 Poll

There was a lot of movement in the largest classification. Not so much in the smaller ones. We were treated to some great opening week action! Week two brings some more marquee action.

TFR – Cherokee County Football – Week 1 Preview

Fields will be lined, marching bands making final preparations and countless volunteers are working tirelessly to prepare for week one of the high school football season which kicks off in earnest this weekend.  Five of the  county teams will be in action on Friday.

Today we take a look at the matchups for Cherokee, Etowah, River Ridge, Sequoyah and Woodstock. Last season, the county sent 4 teams into the post season. Will the county be able to duplicate that success this season? It all starts Friday night, August 18th! Get out and support your local teams!

Georgia High School Football Region Outlook – Class A

Today, we preview Class A. As mentioned in prior posts, it becomes a little more difficult to find information on some of the smaller schools. Thanks for bearing with us as we do some digging. As always, please forgive any omissions that we may have made.

Our next blog should be released on Monday evening. It will outline our top ten that we discussed on the Episode 2 podcast. Then on Thursday, we will preview some key matchups across the state.
