               The Skinny

Coach Steve Versprille enters his second season leading the Treutlen Vikings. The Vikings improved on their win total from two seasons ago, but they still face some challenges as they enter the 2019 season. We asked Coach Versprille what the biggest challenge is coming into the season.

“Developing our offensive line to complement our skill,” he said.

Running back Jeremiah Miller and Kam Jordan will look to lead the offense this year from the skill positions. Jordan was an All-Region selection last season as a DB and returns as one of the leading weapons on offense. Sophomore quarterback, PJ Smiley will lead the way under center.

The aforementioned Jordan leads the secondary while Ben Foskey will anchor the defensive line. Senior Dorian Burns could be in line for a big senior season at the linebacker position.

Coach Versprille said that the only game circled on the calendar is “the first one: ACE of Macon”.

So we can bet that Treutlen won’t be looking ahead.

How will success be defined for by the Vikings?

Coach Versprille simply said , “Compete and finish.”
