The Skinny

Rob Stowe takes over as the head coach for the Wilcox County Patriots. Stowe was served as head coach at Gilmer between 2003 and 2006. We asked Coach Stowe what his team’s biggest challenge was coming into this season.

“Getting all of our guys to completely buy in to a culture change of 100% dedication to win a championship,” Stowe said.

All Region quarterback Noah Hollingsworth returns for the Patriots. Desmond Tisdol returns at running back, while EJ Howard returns at wide receiver. The offensive line will be anchored by Eli Harris and Curt LeFlore.

Defensively, both Tisdol and Howard were All-Region selections in 2018. Tisdol plays linebacker and will be joined by Martez Thrower and Branson Owens. Owens was also an All-Region selection as well in 2018. EJ Howard and Matt McAdoo will lead the secondary while Keantrey Brown will anchor the defensive line.

We asked Coach Stowe if there were any games circled on the schedule this season?

“All are important,” he said.

How will the Patriots define success this season?

Stowe said, “If we prepare like we think we can we hope to be able to host a playoff game.”
