Week 8 brought plenty of movement to the TFR Georgia High School Football Rankings, with several Top-10 matchups and a handful of notable upsets shaking up the standings. Class 7A
Most of Class 7A held serve this week, but there were a couple of notable upsets. Brookwood fell to the Parkview Panthers in the Battle of Five Forks. The loss drops the Broncos all the way to No. 10 this week. In a Top-10 matchup, Newton scored late to upset Westlake 40-38. The two teams swap spots in this week’s rankings, with Newton moving up to No. 6 and Westlake falling to No. 7. Meanwhile, the Harrison Hoyas fell to North Atlanta on Friday night. The loss knocks the Hoyas out of the rankings and makes room for the Grayson Rams to move in at No. 9 this week.

Class 6A
There were two big Top-10 matchups in Class 6A. Lee County outlasted Coffee 15-6. The Trojans remain at No. 2, while Coffee drops two spots to No. 9. Meanwhile, in Region 7, Gainesville walloped Roswell 34-5 in somewhat of an upset. Roswell tumbles all the way to No. 10 this week. Jackson County and Sequoyah move up to No. 7 and No. 8, respectively, after both teams recorded shutout victories on Friday.

Class 5A
Cartersville asserted its dominance this week, shutting out Bartow County rival Cass. The 50-point win for Cartersville sends Cass all the way out of the rankings this week. The Colonels are replaced by Jefferson, which blanked Flowery Branch 35-0.

Class 4A
The Top 9 in Class 4A remains unchanged. Douglass picked up a big win Saturday over Greater Atlanta Christian. The Astros remain at No. 7 this week. Northwest Whitfield used a fourth-quarter surge to defeat Adairsville and stays at No. 9 this week. Meanwhile, the Howard Huskies round out the Top 10 at No. 10. They defeated Spalding on Friday and also have a signature win on their resume after knocking off Baldwin back in mid-September.

Class 3A
There was one big upset Friday in Class 3A as Stephens County knocked off previously unbeaten Hart County. The loss drops Hart all the way down to No. 9 this week. Meanwhile, Morgan County tumbles out of the rankings following its loss to Elbert County. That makes room for the Hephzibah Rebels to make their first appearance in our rankings—not only this season, but overall. The Rebels have a signature win over Burke County two weeks ago and have a pivotal matchup with Washington County this Friday.

Class 2A
The Top 8 in Class 2A remain unchanged, but losses by Cook and Swainsboro made way for two new teams. Berrien, which defeated Cook, now finds itself at No. 9. The Rebels are having a banner year and continue to make noise in Class 2A. Meanwhile, the Model Blue Devils find themselves in our Top 10 for the first time this season. Model shut out Mt. Zion-Carroll last week and still has big games remaining against Darlington and the No. 1 team in Class 2A, Heard County.

Class A
The only Top-10 matchup in Class A provided an outstanding game as Macon County edged Taylor County by one point. The two teams swap spots in this week’s rankings, with Macon County moving up to No. 5 while Taylor County drops to No. 6 The rest of the Top 10 remains unchanged.

Private
Holy Innocents shut out Lovett in a battle between Top-10 private school teams. Holy Innocents remains at No. 2 with the win, while Lovett drops to No. 7. Mt. Vernon upset Fellowship Christian 28-14. The loss drops Fellowship out of the rankings, while Mt. Vernon takes its place at No. 10 for its first appearance in the rankings this season.
